GoSpeed 2

It’s been a long while and now I am concerned! My favorite skin maker, Sezmra Svarog of Nora skins, has been missing in action for about 7 weeks. She hasn’t logged on since 6 September, blogged since the 9th of September and last twittered 14 September. No answers to my IMs or Emails have been forthcoming. Are any of her friends or fashionistas in contact with her? I know she was in the middle of a move, but a nearly 2 month silence worries me. 😦

I’m crossing my fingers and hoping she is OK.

UPDATE! 22 November 2007. Sezmra is OK! RL is giving her problems but she will be coming back to SL shortly. Her blogpost can be found here.

From time to time we do some stupid things in our Real Lives and our Second Lives. I did something really stupid and thoughtless in SL. An old acquaintance approached me for help on a project. I told that person I was unable to help directly, but pointed her to someone who may be able to help. Had I left it at there all would be golden, but I went over to where the project was and poked around. A few days later I saw a blog posting about it that was fairly critical of it. Like a dummy I posted a comment agreeing with some of the points and mentioning that I was approached for help. Stupid stupid stupid!

Although this was not a highly trafficked site my comment was noticed and traced back to my acquaintance. They caught a lot of grief. I was such an ass for my actions. Although this person never said it was hush hush, I simply did not think. My thoughtlessness has cost them and there is nothing I can do to take it back or make them whole again.

To my ex-friend I want to offer my sincerest apologies. There is no excuse for my actions and I regret them deeply. If I could make up for my actions I would gladly do it. I am so sorry and I do not blame you if can’t forgive me.

OK, Vint has told me there is no voting. So please do not pester her or Codie. 🙂

GoSpeed 2

Hey everyone! This past Sunday I attended the SL Bloggers party at CodeBastard Redgrave’s place and had a blast with all the attendees. Codie, Zoe, Crap, Looker, Ryker, Dolmere, Roosevelt, Vint, etc…. I tell you, I get such a kick seeing my fellow bloggers hanging loose and having fun. Perhaps the funniest part was watching Crap Mariner explain to Vint Falken his Schroeder & Lucy joke. Some cultural icons don’t always make it across the pond.

We also had a contest too! The contest was to create the best screen shot from the event. Right now I am in the running and you can vote for me up til 31 October. Go to Vint’s site to see the rules and cast your vote.

Had a wonderful opportunity this week as I was invited to the IBI Fair in the Salgu sim. The purpose of the fair was to highlight Second Life’s indigenous Newspapers, magazines and radio stations (Like KONA Radio!). Here is an article about the event from the SL_Newspaper. I got to put up a display in a 30 prim booth and I also got to DJ a live event when the fair first opened. Here’s a pic of my in the dance hall in the basement:

The Sailors Cove Boat show was a resounding success. See this link for my post about it in the Sailors Cove Blog

Finally got a studio in Second Life!

Here’s GoSpeed relaxing in the new digs. (Wisely enough she is not in my chair.)
In the New studios

A few weeks ago I was chatting with Brookston Holiday about his new sailing vessel, The Esprit, and mentioned how it would be a great idea to have a show for it. I brought the idea up to the estate mangers of Sailors Cove and they took off with idea like a rocket! It’s been about a year since the last great boat show in Sanchon and the sailing community in SL was long overdue for one. The below URLS will give you more details on the events planned for the show:

So what happened to East End Radio??? It all boiled down to control. Here’s the facts: I owned the computer, all the music, the DSL connection, I produced content, managed the playlist, kept the station up and running 24/7. I did EVERYTHING for the station except, pay the server cost. Somehow the Estate owner, B.C. felt she was the OWNER of East End Radio. There was a sign in the barn stating that I was the owner/operator of the station. She took exception to it and wanted it changed. I said no and it degenerated quickly from there. It ended up with her cutting me off from the stream. Funny how a few months later she lost control of it all and sold the entire estate for half price. And oh, how about Bar Harbor? A casino island, what a grand success that was. Ha Ha, but I digress….

I did have an ace up my sleeve. My station had been well received by the residents and guest of The East End and one of them stood up and volunteered to fund my station. Kevin Ludwig of Hukilau island became my new benefactor and gave my station a home in his sim. From Hukilau I spread to many more sims such as Grand Harbor, Mill Pond, Pantheon, and Fishers Island. Some sims and estates have come and gone but I am happy to report KONA is alive and well in many locations throughout Second Life.

Probably the biggest change came in June when I changed business models and went from advertising to sponsorship. This has allowed me to better comply with the rules and give the sponsors a more realistic expectations. As successful as some SL stations are we simply aren’t the powerhouses that many commercial stations are. Sponsoring us will not make your product move like hotcakes. Yes, your name will be heard but what your sponsorship actually does is keep the music alive. We SL stations provide a service and a function that no Club 977 or Martini in the Morning can ever do. We live in SL and interact with our listeners on a regular basis and share our love of music with them, avatar to avatar.

Here’s to good tunes!
